The Delhi High Court has issued summons in a suit filed by actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, seeking protection of her personality rights against allegedly obscene, AI-generated content and fake news circulated online.
Justice Vikas Mahajan also issued notice on Ranaut’s application seeking an interim injunction against the alleged misuse of her name, image and personality attributes.
During the hearing, Adv Saket Sikri flagged allegedly obscene and AI-generated material as well as fake news concerning the actor. The Court, however, noted that some of the content was satirical, following which counsel stated that Ranaut was not pressing for relief against such content at this stage.
The Court was also informed that some defendants had already taken down the allegedly offending material after being served with the suit. The Court directed that those defendants be deleted from the array of parties.
The matter will be heard next on February 3, 2027
