The Delhi High Court on Monday agreed to urgently hear a habeas corpus petition filed by Hindutva influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj challenging his arrest in connection with the alleged assault on the father of a student activist during a protest at Jantar Mantar.
The plea was mentioned before a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia. The Bench allowed the matter to be listed for hearing during the day.
Advocate Umesh Sharma sought urgent listing, submitting that Swatantra Bhardwaj had been in custody for the past three days and that the habeas corpus petition should therefore be taken up immediately.
