The Delhi Police has de-notified Jantar Mantar as a venue for protests and demonstrations, designating Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi as alternative venues.

According to Standing Order No. L&O/48/2026, dated October 11, 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs had constituted a committee to examine alternative venues for citizens to exercise their right to organise protests and demonstrations.

Based on the committee’s recommendations, the three locations have been designated as new protest venues in place of Jantar Mantar.

The standing order further states that detailed and revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for organising protests and demonstrations at these venues will be issued separately. The order partially modifies the earlier Standing Order No. L&O/48/22 dated April 28, 2022.
