The Kerala High Court has directed the Indian Association of Lawyers, Kerala, not to hold any protest, demonstration or symbolic impeachment within the High Court premises, after taking note of a public notice announcing a proposed assembly of lawyer representatives from 88 court centres across Kerala to symbolically impeach the Chief Election Commissioner.
In a communication dated October 13, 2026, Registrar General informed the Association that the High Court premises, including adjoining lands, form part of a Special Security Zone. He stated that holding any meeting or assembly within the premises would constitute a breach of security and interfere with judicial administration.
The communication further clarified that the High Court premises include the new court building complex and adjoining land, including the area in front of the Bar Council Hall. It noted that no permission had been sought or granted for holding such an assembly within the premises.
Accordingly, the Registrar General instructed the Association not to assemble within the High Court premises or hold any protest, demonstration or symbolic impeachment there.
