About Law Centre-II
Law Centre-II made a humble beginning in the year 1971 at the premises of ARSD College, Dhaula Kuan to offer a full-time LL.B. program. It has a glorious past of 54 years. The LL.B. classes were conducted in the evening and the alumni of Law Centre-II included top bureaucrats, police officers, military officers, teachers from different departments, chartered accountants, doctors, engineers, and other professionals. The Centre had the privilege of being headed by the top law scholars of India.
The Moot Court Society of Law Centre-II, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, is set to conduct the 10th edition of its annual moot court competition, the S.K. Puri Memorial International Moot Court Competition, JUSTIFIED 2026. Scheduled from November 20 to 22, 2026, at Umang Bhawan, North Campus, the competition brings together aspiring legal minds to grapple with pressing questions in international law. Structured as a simulated trial under the Rome Statute, this year’s edition examines the accountability of judicial and quasi-judicial institutions in aiding the commission of crimes prohibited under international law.
The 2026 Theme
This year’s theme, “Accountability of Judicial and Quasi-Judicial Institutions in Aiding the Commission of Crimes Prohibited under International Law,” carries forward the competition’s tradition of giving law students a demanding platform to engage with unresolved questions and shifting jurisprudence in international criminal law.
The 2026 moot proposition urges participants to examine how judicial and quasi-judicial mechanisms, whether by design or through negligence, can end up reinforcing state conduct that breaches core principles of international criminal law. Moving past the conventional image of courts as neutral arbiters, the theme pushes teams to interrogate how legal institutions themselves can end up legitimizing, or actively enabling, acts that amount to international atrocities. In doing so, the problem foregrounds difficult questions of individual criminal liability for judicial actors alongside broader institutional accountability.
A Decade of JUSTIFIED
The competition began in 2015 as a national event and acquired its memorial format in 2018, when Adv. Sacchin Puri (Sr.) established it in honour of his father, the late Shri S.K. Puri. A self-made, first-generation lawyer who built his practice from the ground up at the Tis Hazari courts, Shri S.K. Puri went on to become a designated Senior Advocate at the Delhi High Court and served two terms as Honorary Secretary of the Delhi High Court Bar Association.
The competition went international in 2019, drawing teams from across South Asia. Its oral rounds have since been judged by a distinguished bench of jurists, including sitting and former judges of the Delhi High Court such as Hon’ble Former Mr. Justice Siddharth Mridul, Hon’ble Ms. Justice Prathiba M. Singh, Hon’ble Ms. Justice Mini Pushkarna, Hon’ble Former Mr. Justice Talwant Singh, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Subramonium Prasad, among others. Past winners include NLU Delhi, Jindal Global Law School, IFIM Law School Bengaluru, DBRANLU Sonipat, and the reigning 2025 champions, Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi.
Logistics, Eligibility & Structure
● Eligibility & Team Composition: Open to recognized law colleges and universities. Teams must comprise 4 to 5 members (2 Speakers, 2 Witnesses, and an optional 1 Researcher).
● Execution Format: In-person oral rounds held at Umang Bhawan, spanning Preliminary, Advanced, and Final stages evaluated by sitting/former judges, senior advocates, and international legal scholars.

The competition carries a total prize pool of ₹2,11,000, awarded across the following categories:
● Winners: ₹51,000
● Runners-Up: ₹40,000
● Second Runners-Up: ₹25,000
● Best Memorials (Prosecution, Defense, State): ₹20,000 each
● Best Advocate(Final and Prelims): ₹15,000 each.
● Best Witness: ₹10,000
