The Rajasthan High Court Lawyers’ Association and Rajasthan High Court Advocates’ Association, Jodhpur, have called for immediate institutional measures amid concerns over the functioning and administration of the Rajasthan High Court. Following an emergency meeting held on August 31, the associations resolved to submit a memorandum to the President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of India and senior judges of the Supreme Court Collegium, raising three key demands.
The associations have sought that the Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court be kept away from both judicial and administrative responsibilities, citing the “serious circumstances” that have arisen and the need to preserve institutional confidence and ensure an impartial process. They have also demanded the appointment of a permanent and full-time Chief Justice for the Rajasthan High Court.
Another key demand is the immediate discontinuation of the targeted file system across Rajasthan. The associations said the system, under which cases are allegedly being disposed of on the basis of prolonged pendency, is placing excessive pressure on lawyers and affecting their work-life balance, besides causing widespread dissatisfaction within the Bar.

The resolution followed discussions at an emergency meeting attended by a large number of senior and young advocates. The associations emphasised that their objective was not to target any individual but to protect the dignity, impartiality and independence of the judicial institution and public confidence in the justice system.
The associations have also appealed to lawyers across Rajasthan and decided to urge Bar associations throughout the State to join the wider movement. As part of the resolution, advocates have voluntarily decided to abstain from physical and virtual appearances in all courts until September 6, 2026, with a struggle committee to be constituted to determine the future course of action.
