Symbiosis Law School (SLS), Nagpur has constituted a high-powered committee to investigate allegations against a faculty member following complaints concerning alleged inappropriate messages to a female student and claims of religious pressure. The University said further action would follow after the committee submits its report.
In a statement dated October 18, 2026, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) said it had taken note of reports circulating on social media and the complaint received in connection with the matter. The university stated that the committee had been constituted to examine the allegations and recommend appropriate action.
The development follows reports that the professor had been placed on leave pending the inquiry and would not attend the campus until the findings were available.
The matter came to light after a student’s father reportedly approached the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), which subsequently raised the issue with the university administration and the Nagpur Police. The allegations have not been established, and the inquiry is ongoing.
