The Bombay High Court has modified its earlier order deferring a defamation suit to the year 2046, and has now directed that the matter be listed for further hearing on July 15, 2026. The clarification was issued by Justice Jitendra Jain upon a mentioning by counsel for the plaintiffs.
The Court ordered deletion of certain portions of its previous order dated April 28, 2026 and substituted the operative direction to reflect the revised listing date. It further directed that the corrected order be uploaded and read in conjunction with the earlier order.
The development follows the Court’s earlier remarks describing the dispute as an “ego fight” between parties that was unnecessarily burdening judicial time, and its direction that the matter be kept off the board for two decades.
With the present modification, the Court has effectively restored the matter for near-term consideration, while ensuring that the corrected order forms part of the official record.
