The Bombay High Court has notified that all Vacation Benches at its Principal Seat in Mumbai as well as its benches at Nagpur, Aurangabad, Goa and the Circuit Bench at Kolhapur will be accessible through video conferencing during the ensuing vacation period, citing fuel conservation and efficient functioning measures.
The notification states that the move has been made pursuant to directions issued by the Chief Justice and in continuation of measures undertaken in light of directions of the Supreme Court concerning fuel conservation and efficient judicial functioning.
To facilitate advocates who may not have access to independent video conferencing facilities, the High Court has also established remote VC access points within court premises across its benches. These include designated courtrooms at the Principal Seat in Mumbai, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Goa and Kolhapur, equipped with the necessary infrastructure for advocates to join proceedings before the Vacation Courts.
Advocates intending to use these facilities have been asked to inform the High Court in advance via email and comply with the High Court of Bombay Rules for Video Conferencing for Courts 2022, while maintaining courtroom decorum and discipline.
The arrangement will remain operational throughout the vacation period or until further orders.
