In an oral mentioning before the Supreme Court on Monday, an advocate alleged that his human rights were being violated by the Registry over objections relating to curing defects in a matter pending filing. Mentioning the issue before the Bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice Vipul M. Pancholi, the advocate repeatedly submitted:
“My human rights are being violated by the Registry, my Lord. I am running from pillar to post in each and every corner of the Registry.”
The advocate alleged that despite approaching Registry officials since April 2, the defects had not been cleared, and unnecessary hurdles were being created in processing the matter. He further claimed that a Registrar had informed him that only Advocates-on-Record (AoRs) would be entertained and not each and every advocate. The counsel submitted:
“How can the Registry dictate to me what should I mention as reason for delay?”
Responding to the grievance, the CJI assured the advocate that the objections raised by the Registry would be personally examined. The CJI said:
“I will personally examine what are the objections.”
