The Judicial Magistrate First Class, South-East, Rahul Jain, at Saket Courts, Delhi, has issued bailable warrants against YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in a criminal defamation case filed by Vikas Sankrityayan over Rathee’s video titled “BJP IT Cell Part 2”.
The warrants were issued after the Court was informed that notice had been served on Rathee, but the premises were found locked. Earlier this week, the Court had issued fresh summons after the complainant sought preponement of the hearing, which was otherwise scheduled for November 20.
The complainant sought an earlier hearing on the ground that Rathee, who ordinarily resides abroad, was presently in India in connection with the “CJP protest”. He sought fresh summons to facilitate prompt service, contending that service had been delayed for several years because Rathee resides abroad. The complainant also claimed to have information about Rathee’s residence in Haryana.
The matter is now listed for October 31.
