A Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) Court in Delhi has ordered the release of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after they were produced before the court following the expiry of their two-day judicial custody.

The duo had been in custody since October 14 in connection with alleged violations of peace bonds and an incident at Jantar Mantar, which had been de-notified as a designated protest site. Their custody was extended by two days on October 19.

Earlier today, the Delhi High Court declined to intervene in their challenge to the extension of custody, asking them to pursue the remedy available before the SEM Court and, if necessary, approach the appellate court.

Following their production before the SEM Court, the magistrate ordered their release.
