The Delhi High Court has directed authorities to ensure adequate protection to petitioners and witnesses in connection with a communal incident in Uttam Nagar, while also addressing the circulation of inflammatory content on social media.

Justice Girish Kathpalia was hearing a plea seeking protection from alleged threats and removal of provocative videos linked to an FIR. The petitioners alleged intimidation by unidentified individuals and apprehended harm to their lives and liberty.

The Court was informed by the State that the police had already taken preventive measures, including installation of CCTV cameras and deployment of pickets in the area to maintain communal harmony. A police picket was also stationed near the petitioners’ residence.

Taking note of these submissions, the Court directed that the SHO concerned to share his personal contact details with the petitioners to enable immediate assistance in case of distress.

The Court directed petitioners to provide specific details of any remaining content to enable prompt action by authorities.
