Delhi High Court Defers Decision on First and Third Saturday Court Sittings; Committee to Examine Proposal

The Delhi High Court has deferred the implementation of its earlier decision declaring the first and third Saturdays of every month as court sitting days. In a notification issued on 17 July 2026, the Court stated that the Full Court, in its meeting held on 9 July 2026, resolved to postpone the decision taken on 22 December 2025, which had been notified on 15 January 2026.

The notification further states that Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya will constitute a committee to examine all relevant aspects concerning Saturday sittings before any final decision is taken.
