The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued notice to Aam Aadmi Party leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and other alleged contemnors in a suo motu criminal contempt case concerning alleged remarks made against Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma.
A division bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja noted that the contempt proceedings arose from the single judge’s order dated May 14, which had referred to material including social media posts, electronic records, and publications placed on record.
The bench directed the Registry to preserve copies of the relevant material and place them before the Court. The alleged contemnors have been granted four weeks to file their responses.
As no counsel appeared in the matter, the Court indicated that an amicus curiae would be appointed to assist in the proceedings.
The matter has been listed for further hearing on August 4.
