The Delhi High Court, on Friday, issued notice to respondents on a plea filed by actor Salman Khan alleging unauthorised exploitation of his personality rights in connection with film, Kala Hiran: Battle for Legacy, trailer, and promotional material.
The matter was heard by Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, who issued notice in the plea and sought responses from all concerned parties, including the producer, director, casting director, and production house.
At the outset, counsel appearing for the plaintiff drew the Court’s attention to a prior order protecting the actor’s personality rights. It was further contended that despite the subsisting protection, the defendants had released promotional material infringing these rights. It was submitted: “on 29 May, a poster was released depicting an individual bearing my likeness, including characteristic features such as the bracelet, now a film is being made exploiting my personality rights.”
Highlighting the urgency, the counsel informed the Court that the trailer had already been released: “We are seeking an injunction, the trailer has been released today, though it was earlier scheduled for 20 June.”
The Court, upon hearing the submissions, sought clarification on the timeline of the film’s release. In response, counsel submitted that no official release date had been announced. Taking note of the grievance, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna issued notice observing: “notice to be issued to the producer, director, casting director, and production house list on 19 June.”
The matter is listed for further hearing on 19 June, 2026.
