A writ appeal was filed before the Madras High Court against a writ order dated 04-08-2025 passed in a writ petition filed to challenge the selection list dated 05-05-2025, and seek directions upon the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (respondent) to validate the appellant’s OMR.
The writ court found that the appellant had failed to correctly shade the question booklet number on the OMR sheet, which is why the system automatically rejected the answer sheet.
The respondents submitted that the appellant had not shaded the OMR sheet properly and had made double shading even though the candidates were instructed that the registration number must be shared accurately, failing which, the answer sheet would be deemed unfit for valuation.
A Division Bench of Justice S.M. Subramaniamand Justice N. Senthilkumar noted the reasoning of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission that the valuation was carried out by an automated process and that because of improper shading, it would be too difficult to identify the appellant’s OMR. Consideration was also given to the respondent’s averment that the Court’s interference would result in opening a pandora’s box as system based evaluation undertaken to maintain accuracy as well as transparency could not be faulted with.
Thus, the Court did not find any infirmity with the impugned order and dismissed the appeal.
