Ahead of the Bar Association elections scheduled for September 11, 2026, the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana has appealed to advocates and Bar Associations across the States to remove all Bar Council election campaign material from court premises and public places, while promoting environmentally responsible campaigning in the forthcoming elections.

In a circular dated July 18, 2026, the Bar Council expressed gratitude to Bar members and Bar Associations for ensuring the peaceful and successful conduct of the recently concluded Bar Council elections. However, it noted that posters, stickers, banners and other campaign material continue to remain displayed in advocates’ chambers, court complexes, boundary walls and other public places.

The Council observed that such displays not only detract from the dignity and aesthetics of court complexes but are also inconsistent with the spirit of the Swachh Bharat Mission. It urged all Bar Associations and members to voluntarily remove election-related publicity material from court premises and public spaces within their respective jurisdictions at the earliest.

The Bar Council further called upon Bar Associations to conduct “Green Elections” during the forthcoming Bar Association polls by discouraging the use of paper posters, plastic stickers and other materials that deface public property. Instead, it encouraged the adoption of environmentally responsible and digital modes of campaigning.
