The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to two accused persons in the Chhattisgarh manpower supply tender scam, noting that the investigation against them was complete and the charge sheet had already been filed. The matter was heard by Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana.
The Court noted that the allegations concerned transportation of ₹28.50 lakh as alleged illegal gratification to a co-accused, a DGM of CSMCL, on November 29, 2023. The accused were intercepted by the Enforcement Directorate before the money could allegedly be delivered and were arrested on April 19, 2026. The charge sheet was filed on May 18, 2026.
Since the company’s director and promoter, who were described as principal/co-principal accused, had already been granted interim bail, the Court observed:
“
“Since the director and promoter of the company are already on interim bail, it seems to us that no further result by detaining the prisoners in judicial custody. Consequently, without expressing any opinion on the matters, the prisoners are directed to be released on bail.”
The bail is subject to conditions imposed by the trial court. The Court also clarified that the order would not create any impediment for other accused seeking bail.
