Supreme Court Collegium Clears Appointment Of 19 Judges To Madras High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the appointment of 19 persons as judges of the Madras High Court, clearing multiple recommendations that had been pending since late 2025.

In a statement issued following its meeting held on May 18, 2026, the Collegium approved proposals forwarded on different dates between November and December 2025 for elevation to the High Court bench.

The approved names include advocates Dr. P. Murugan, M.D. Sumathi, S. Alli, C. Thirumagal Chandrasekar, Dharmalingam Lingeswaran, Karthikeyan Balathandayutham, Natarajan Ramesh, G.K. Muthukumaar, Ramakrishnan Rajesh Vivekananthan, Sankaranarayanan Raveekumar, Nagarajan Dilip Kumar, Ellappan Manoharan, Krishnaswamy Govindarajan, and Rajnish Pathiyil. Judicial officers approved for elevation include K. Appadurai alias Kandavel Appadurai, Ramasamy Anitha, Shanmugam Karthikeyan, Baluchamy Murugesan, and N. Gunasekaran.
