The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a plea concerning the alleged police action against students protesting at Jantar Mantar, after Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan sought an urgent listing before the Bench of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana.
Mentioning the matter, Senior Advocate Sankaranarayanan informed the Court that a petition had already been filed and a diary number had been generated. Stressing the urgency of the matter, he alleged that the police had resorted to excesses against the protesting students. Responding to the request, CJI Surya Kant said: “We will hear on Monday.”
