‘NTA Has Not Learnt Its Lesson Yet’: SC Issues Notice In Plea Seeking Court-Monitored NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam & Overhaul of NTA

NEET UG re-exam plea

The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice in a plea concerning the NEET-UG 2026 examination filed by the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA).

The matter was heard by a Bench comprising Justice P.S. Narasimha and Justice Alok Aradhe.

Appearing for the petitioners, Advocate Tanvi Dubey submitted grievances relating to the conduct of the examination and sought urgent intervention from the Court. During the hearing, the Bench orally remarked: “NTA has not learnt its lesson yet.”

The Court directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to file its affidavit within three days. The matter has now been listed for further hearing on May 29, 2026.

The petition filed by FAIM seeks the following relief:

  • A court-supervised re-examination for NEET-UG 2026;
  • Restructuring and overhaul of the NTA;
  • Constitution of a judicially supervised expert committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge;
  • Inclusion of cybersecurity experts and forensic specialists to audit the examination process; and
  • Creation of a National Examination Integrity Commission to oversee future examinations.
