During the hearing, Senior Advocate Indira Jaising emphasised the need for mutual respect between the judiciary and the legal profession, submitting that while lawyers are committed to the institution, “the institution must also love us.” She urged the Court to recognise the frustration within the legal profession and partner with lawyers in improving the institution. The Bench responded that it would work with members of the legal profession towards institutional improvement.

The Court also discussed the broader implications of contempt law for the judiciary while distinguishing those institutional concerns from the specific issues arising in the present proceedings.
