Esplanade Court, Mumbai, has remanded three accused arrested in connection with the firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff to police custody till October 31, after hearing arguments from both sides.
The police sought 14 days of custody, citing the need to recover the weapon used in the firing, trace its source and further investigate the case, including the accused persons’ links to the gangs involved in the incident.
Advocate Satyavrat Joshi, appearing for accused number one, opposed the request for an extended period of police custody. He argued that the 14-day custody sought by the police was excessive, particularly since the accused had already spent two days in police custody under the transit remand. He further submitted that the police could obtain electronic evidence, including call detail records (CDRs), directly from mobile service providers without requiring prolonged physical custody of the accused.
Advocate Ajinkya Mirgal Madhukar, appearing for another accused, submitted that the transit remand was intended to facilitate their transportation to Mumbai, but the accused allegedly remained with the police overnight and were questioned during that period. He submitted that the accused had cooperated with the investigation and shared information with the police, leading to further developments in the case.
After hearing the submissions, the court granted police custody of the three accused till October 31.
