Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. (SAM) advised vivo Mobile India Private Limited (VMI) on the formation of a 49:51 joint venture with Dixon Technologies (India) Limited, through the incorporation of a new company to undertake OEM manufacturing of electronic devices, including smartphones.
The transaction is particularly notable for having received Government approval under Press Note 3, in connection with VMI’s 49% investment in the joint venture company. The transaction is expected to further strengthen India’s domestic electronics manufacturing and smartphone supply-chain ecosystem.
