The Delhi High Court has directed the Union Government to permit two officers of the Central Secretariat Club to visit its premises at Park Lane, New Delhi, and collect their belongings following their eviction from the property.
Justice Amit Mahajan passed the order on October 7, 2026, in a petition filed by the Central Secretariat Club challenging the order under which its control over the property was taken away and the Club was derecognised.
The Court noted that the Club had been operating from property bearing Nos. 07C to 10C, Park Lane, Type 5A, New Delhi, since 1926. It further recorded that possession of the premises had been taken over pursuant to the impugned order and that the Club’s office-bearers had since been evicted.
As the matter could not be finally heard, the Court directed the respondents to permit two officers of the Club to visit the premises and prepare a list of their belongings and other items. Upon receipt of the list, the respondents were directed to facilitate the collection of those items.
The Court requested the Central Government Standing Counsel Radhika Bishwajit Dubey appearing for the Union to coordinate with the concerned officers of the Club to ensure compliance with the directions within two weeks.
The matter has been listed for further hearing on December 21, 2026. The date previously fixed for February 9, 2027, stands cancelled.
