Several lawyers were detained by Delhi Police near the Supreme Court on Saturday amid heightened security arrangements ahead of protests called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar.
Some were picked up from near the Supreme Court and lawyers’ chambers and taken away in a police vehicle. One of the detained advocates alleged that the police personnel had not disclosed where they were being taken.
The Chief Justice of India was informed about the detentions and communicated with the authorities to secure the release of the lawyers. The same was being informed to the media by SCAORA President.
SCBA has issued notice condemning the arrest of Lawyers.
