The Delhi High Court on Friday rejected an appeal filed by the Delhi Police challenging a trial court order granting bail to Congress councillor Ishrat Jahan in a case arising out of the North-East Delhi riots of February 2020.
A Division Bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja observed that over four years had elapsed since the grant of bail and there was nothing on record to indicate any violation of bail conditions by Jahan.
Taking note of the passage of time and continued compliance with bail conditions, the Court declined to interfere with the trial court’s order.
Accordingly, the appeal filed by Delhi Police was dismissed.
