The Delhi High Court on Friday granted time to actor Amitabh Bachchan to complete formalities and place a settlement agreement on record in his personality rights suit against Rajat Nagi and others.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav was informed that an amicable settlement had been reached with some of the defendants through mediation, but the agreement could not be formally signed due to logistical issues on Amitabh Bachchan’s part.
The Court granted the plaintiff’s request for additional time and listed the matter for November 16, 2026.
The suit seeks a permanent injunction to protect Bachchan’s personality rights. The Court had earlier granted an ex-parte ad-interim injunction in his favour on November 25, 2022.
The Court further directed that if the settlement remains incomplete or does not materialise, and the plaintiff wishes to pursue the suit on any remaining claims or issues, he must remain personally present at the next hearing.
This would enable the Court to exercise its powers under Order X Rule 2 read with Order V Rule 3 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, and Section 168 of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023.
