A revision plea filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challenging a discharge order in an ongoing excise policy case before the Delhi High Court, involving former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, was heard on 14-05-2026 by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma.
Certain Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders had earlier stated that they would remain unrepresented in the Court and would not participate in the proceedings before Justice Sharma. However, the Court rejected such pleas.
In the hearing today, the Court stated that it would announce the names of the amicus curiae to be appointed in the present case to assist the court, and that certain senior counsel had also accepted the said proposal.
However, the Court said that, in the meantime, it was noticed that extremely vilifying, contemptuous, and defamatory material was posted by some of the respondents against Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma herself and the Court. Therefore, the Court stated that it had decided to initiate contempt proceedings against some of the respondents as well as other contemnors.
