An Indian criminal lawyer has reportedly been detained in London by British immigration authorities over allegations of possible immigration violations and the reported discovery of a substantial amount of cash.
According to reports, the lawyer has allegedly been in the custody of UK immigration authorities for the past three days. The matter is reportedly linked to a property in Mayfair, one of London’s most expensive areas.
The lawyer is alleged to have been working in the United Kingdom without the requisite work permit and may have breached other immigration regulations. The matter reportedly came to the attention of authorities following a complaint allegedly made by the landlord of the Mayfair property in May, following which British immigration officials are said to have examined the lawyer’s activities in the UK.
However, no official document from the UK Home Office, Border Force, Metropolitan Police or a British court has so far been made public confirming the lawyer’s identity or detention.
