SKV Law Offices Advises JSW on Cross-Border Strategic Partnership with Bhutan’s DGPC for 920 MW Punatsangchhu-III Hydroelectric Project

JSW Bhutan Hydropower Partnership

SKV Law Offices represented JSW Neo Energy Limited (“JSW”) in the formation of a strategic partnership with Druk Green Power Corporation Limited (“DGPC”) for the development of the 920 MW Punatsangchhu-III Hydroelectric Project in Bhutan.

The project will be developed through a joint venture company, in which DGPC will hold 51% and JSW will hold 49% equity. The project will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) basis and is located on the Punatsangchhu river in Wangdue Phodrang District, Bhutan.

The partnership brings together JSW’s experience in hydropower development and DGPC’s expertise in developing and operating hydroelectric assets in Bhutan, and marks JSW’s first power generation venture outside India. The Project will add clean and dispatchable generation capacity to JSW’s growing renewable energy portfolio.

The collaboration further strengthens cross-border clean energy cooperation between India and Bhutan and contributes to the development of additional hydropower capacity in Bhutan.
