The President of India has appointed Justice Ravindra V. Ghuge as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, following consultation with the Chief Justice of India.
Justice Ghuge is a Judge of the Bombay High Court and had been serving as its Acting Chief Justice since June 2026, following the elevation of then Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar to the Supreme Court.
The appointment is part of a wider notification appointing eight Chief Justices to various High Courts. The Supreme Court Collegium had earlier recommended Justice Ghuge for appointment as Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.
