The President of India has appointed Justice Valluri Kameswar Rao as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, in exercise of powers conferred by the Constitution and in consultation with the Chief Justice of India.

Justice Kameswar Rao is currently a Judge of the Delhi High Court. His appointment forms part of the Centre’s notification appointing Chief Justices to eight High Courts across the country.

The appointment follows the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation of Justice Kameswar Rao for the post. The Collegium had recommended him for elevation as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court in August 2026.
