Mumbai Court Remands All 11 Accused In Tiger Shroff Firing Case To Police Custody Till November 6

Tiger Shroff Firing Case

A Mumbai court on Thursday remanded all 11 accused in the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff to police custody till November 6, after the Mumbai Police Crime Branch invoked provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against them.

The accused were produced before a special MCOCA court presided over by Special Judge Satyanarayan Navandar. The Crime Branch sought 10 days of police custody for further investigation into the alleged conspiracy behind the October 18 firing outside Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area.

The police had invoked MCOCA against all 11 accused on October 27 after obtaining approval from the competent authority. On Wednesday, the special court permitted their re-arrest under the stringent law.

According to the police, the incident took place on the evening of October 18, when two alleged shooters opened fire at Shroff’s car as he was leaving a football ground in Juhu. The actor escaped largely unhurt, while his driver and a bystander were injured.

The Crime Branch is investigating the alleged organised-crime links behind the attack. Police have also named Anil Pandit, an alleged associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, as a wanted accused in the case. He allegedly claimed responsibility for the firing through social media posts and an audio message.

The case was initially registered at Juhu Police Station on October 19 under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 109(1), relating to attempt to murder, and Section 3(5), along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2) and 3(4) of MCOCA were subsequently added.
