Rajasthan High Court Makes EWS Sub-Inspector Selection Subject to Outcome of Plea Challenging Cancellation of Appointment

Girder Singh Shekhawat v. Union of India, Decided on 17.04.2026

Rajasthan High Court

The Rajasthan High Court has directed that the selection process for the EWS category for the post of Sub-Inspector will remain subject to the outcome of a writ petition challenging cancellation of an appointment.

Justice Ravi Chirania was hearing a plea by a candidate who claimed that despite being selected and issued an appointment order on October 24, 2025, the same was cancelled on December 2, 2025 after revision of results, which led to his exclusion from the merit list.

Upon hearing the matter, the Court granted time to the Union of India to file its response and directed that any further steps in the EWS category selection process would be subject to the final outcome of the petition.

The case will be taken up for further hearing after three weeks.
