The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to urgently list a plea seeking implementation of anti-cow slaughter laws ahead of Bakrid.
Mentioning the matter before the Bench led by CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymanlya Bagchi, Advocate Barun Kumar Sinha submitted that Bakrid was scheduled for the day after tomorrow and sought an urgent hearing so that interim directions could be passed if the Court was persuaded.
“Day after tomorrow is Bakrid. This is a plea seeking the implementation of the anti-cow slaughter law. If this can be listed tomorrow, then in case the Court is convinced, interim orders can be passed,” the Advocate submitted.
Refusing urgent listing, CJI Surya Kant remarked:
“You remembered this a day before. No urgency.
