The Delhi High Court has issued notice on a contempt petition alleging wilful disobedience of its earlier order restraining further appointments to the Governing Council of the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) until the injunction application in the underlying dispute is decided.
Justice Mini Pushkarna was hearing a contempt petition alleging that despite the Division Bench’s order dated 23 April 2026, the respondents proceeded to make fresh appointments to the Governing Council in violation of the Court’s express directions.
The petitioner submitted that the Division Bench had categorically directed that no further Governing Council members shall be appointed by the appellants and had stayed the operation of the order dated 23 March 2026 until the injunction application is decided by the Single Judge. It was contended that the respondents nevertheless made further appointments, amounting to wilful disobedience of the Court’s order.

The Court also noted the petitioner’s submission that the present contempt proceedings raise issues similar to those pending contempt proceedings involving similar issues. Accordingly, notice was issued to the respondents, directing them to file their reply within four weeks, followed by a rejoinder within two weeks thereafter.
During the hearing, counsel appearing for the respondents entered appearance and informed the Court that an application under Order VII Rule 11 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 had already been filed in the main suit before the roster Bench. Taking the statement on record, Justice Pushkarna directed that the present contempt petition be listed along with the connected contempt proceedings on February 4, 2027.
