P&H HC Seeks Affidavit from U.T. of Chandigarh Regarding Steps Taken Amid Security Concerns Over DHE Digital Portals for Student Admissions

Rajavikrant Sharma v. Union Territory of Chandigarh & Ors. [Decided on 01-07-2026]

Punjab and Haryana High Court

A Public Interest Litigation was filed before the Punjab and Haryana High Court against websites belonging to the Department of Higher Education (DHE) of the Chandigarh Administration, serving as the official digital portals for online college admissions in Chandigarh.

The grievance raised by the petitioner was that the website created for differently-abled students was not adequately secured and that there was a possibility of data being leaked. A short note was furnished by the Union Territory of Chandigarh wherein it was indicated that various steps had been taken regarding the same.

Taking note of the short note, a Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Rohit Kapoor found it appropriate to adjourn the matter to enable the respondents to notify the said steps being taken by filing an affidavit before the Court.

The matter has now been listed on 23-07-2026.
