The Ministry of Law and Justice has issued an official statement terming as “false and misleading” the viral claim that Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal attended the Second International Bar & Bench Badminton Championship in London on June 7, 2026, alongside 75 judges of the Supreme Court and various High Courts.
According to the Ministry, the claim being circulated by certain YouTube channels and digital platforms is factually incorrect. It clarified that photographs being shared in support of the allegation are old images from the All India Judges’ Badminton Championship held at Thyagraj Stadium, New Delhi, on November 29, 2025, and not from the London event.
The statement further notes that the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check Unit examined the viral claim and confirmed that the information being circulated in the public domain is fake. It also stated that on June 7, 2026, Arjun Ram Meghwal was in Bikaner, Rajasthan, where he participated in official meetings and public engagements in his parliamentary constituency.
The Ministry has urged media organisations, digital platforms and individuals to verify information through authentic and official sources before publishing or sharing such claims, cautioning that the dissemination of inaccurate information has the potential to mislead the public and create unwarranted confusion.
Notably, The Bar Bulletin had earlier published a detailed fact check examining the same viral claim and highlighting discrepancies in the allegations and the photographs being circulated. The Ministry’s statement is consistent with the factual position reported in that fact check.
