SCAORA Extends Window for Left-Out Members to Clear Subscription Dues Pursuant to SC Order on Inclusion of New AORs in Voter List

SCAORA voter list extension

The Election Committee of the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) has extended the time for existing members left out of the voter list to clear their membership subscription dues in view of the revised election schedule.

In a resolution dated May 8, 2026, the Committee stated that several representations had been received from members seeking an opportunity to regularise their membership before the voting scheduled on May 21, 2026. The resolution records:

“After consideration of their requests, particularly the compelling reasons given by some of them and in view of the new date of voting, an opportunity till 11.05.2026 only is given to the left out existing members to clear their subscription dues.”

The Committee further stated that a second or supplementary voters’ list containing names of such members would be issued separately.

The development comes pursuant to proceedings before the Supreme Court concerning the exclusion of newly registered Advocates-on-Record from the SCAORA voter list for the 2026 elections. The writ petition was filed for the inclusion of newly qualified Advocates-on-Record (AORs) in the voters’ list for the SCAORA elections

The Court had provisionally permitted newly registered AORs to vote and observed that they should not lose voting rights because of administrative delays in formal induction.
